I found a large slab of riven slate which is fab as it has gorgeous natural tide markings that are enhanced when it is polished to a honed finish. It can scratch easier than stone or marble but that can add to its character over time.. this slab weighed more then 250 kilos and had to be brought in on ropes by 6 men but has created in my opinion a wonderful centre piece perfect for dining and seats 10! Only question is how to get it out again if we move! !😉
